These days short theatre entertainments such as sketches, monologues and comic scenes are in vogue. They show up human weaknesses, sometimes in a benevolent manner and sometimes in a more bitter way. Cervantes, back in the seventeenth century, made use of humour to show what he could not say in a serious way about a society founded on hypocrisy and appearance.
