​New Adventures, More Magic, More Candela: The Series Continues

Blending the appeal of Middle Grade fantasy and adventure with echoes of magical realism, Candela and the Dream Cook marks a new chapter for the series, where extraordinary worlds emerge from everyday places. The first two books will be relaunched with redesigned covers by Estudi Miquel Puig, giving the collection a refreshed visual identity that captures the wonder, adventure and imagination at the heart of Candela’s stories.

Meet Candela

At the heart of the series is Candela, the kind of nine-year-old heroine young readers instantly connect with: curious, determined and always ready to embrace the unknown.

In every story, an ordinary place becomes the gateway to an extraordinary world. An abandoned house, a museum or even a kitchen can suddenly reveal unexpected magic, leading Candela into unforgettable adventures. Each book is a self-contained story that celebrates curiosity, courage and creative thinking.

The series comes to life through distinctive black-and-white playful, slightly spooky and full of charm illustrations by Mercè López that are perfectly complementing Candela’s universe.

1. Candela and the Mystery of the Open Door

An abandoned house, a group of friendly child spirits and a series of clever STEAM-inspired challenges stand between Candela and her way home.

2. Candela and the King of Paper

A visit to the museum turns into an extraordinary journey through an origami world, where every fold hides a new surprise.

3. Candela and the Dream Cook (publishing September 2026)

The world has stopped dreaming. Guided by the mysterious Dream Chef, Candela embarks on a magical quest to recover four enchanted ingredients and restore the dreams before they disappear forever.

As a first glimpse of the new title:

“Suddenly, she took a closer look at him—at his shield—and what she was seeing seemed impossible. His shield was made of… a biscuit? That couldn’t be right. The more closely she looked, the more certain she became: it really did seem to be a giant biscuit. And his sword was a breadstick, slightly narrower at the tip than at the base! She shook her head several times. That was impossible. The thing everyone had feared had finally happened: she had gone completely mad.”
