The novel tells the story of Colombí, a country pigeon living in Sant Miquel de Fluvià, in Empordà, who spends his days among other birds exploring the natural world around them. One day, a pigeon from Barcelona arrives and tells dazzling stories about city life, awakening in Colombí the desire to see more of the world.
Encouraged by his blackbird friend, he decides to fly to Jaraíz de la Vera, a village in Extremadura. There, Colombí befriends two storks and experiences several adventures before deciding to return home. When he does, he rediscovers his familiar surroundings—but now with a more open, curious, and adventurous spirit, shaped by everything he has seen and learned along the way.
